For military recruits, an ASVAB score can make the difference between a obtaining a desired military position and being stuck peeling potatoes for four years. The ASVAB contains ten content-specific subtests, two of which are mathematically oriented. The Arithmetic Reasoning (AR) section focuses on solving word problems, and sample questions are available here. The Math Knowledge (MK) section focuses on an understanding of high school mathematics, and has sample questions here. If you cannot quickly and confidently answer these sample questions, then I can help you.

The preparation method that I employ is to have recruits take a single test in a quiet timed environment on their own. When the timer signals the end of their work times (if they have not finished), they mark how far along they came on the answer key, and finish the rest of the test. They score their tests themselves (with a provided answer key), and bring them to their first sessions with me.

On their first session, we go through all of the questions that they got wrong, and I make notes on where background knowledge is lacking. I provide personalized instruction on the topics that I have made note of using High School Algebra textbooks (which usually takes several sessions) and then give the students another shot at the questions that they have missed.

From this point on, study becomes about studying the questions on the ASVAB in the form that they appear. I look at the attempted solution methods and provide needed insight to successfully complete questions. I repeat questions in graduated intervals until they are mastered, and then give the students new tests to take on their own at home in the same way they did the first test. I make note of the score increase, and trends in missed questions, providing extra instruction in problem areas where needed.

These methods of studying specific ASVAB problems continue until students are ready to take their tests. I have had a high success rate with both struggling recruits and recruits who are performing well and want a higher score.

I provide personalized instruction in ASVAB for $60 an hour. Please contact me as early as possible before taking your test so that there is sufficient time to complete the program.
