Finite Mathematics is best thought of as an advanced applied mathematics course intended for students who don’t need or plan to take Calculus. It’s more often a college course than a high school course, and its material is of a very practical nature for different trades and professions such as accounting, finance and computer programming.

In a Finite Math course, you will likely spend much time with applied linear algebra and linear programming, which is useful in tasks like optimizing the distribution of the stock of some product through some number of warehouses nationwide to maximize customer access to stock while minimizing spoilage of products.

There are other topics in practical model building involving the use of combinatorics, probability and statistics. There will likely be work in formal logic. Some courses dip into basic game theory and set theory.

Finite Math courses can be strenuous, but they can be the most practical courses that you have ever taken. With my help, you will be able to cut through the jargon in your textbook and learn how to actually use the material presented for practical problem solving.

I provide supplementary instruction (tutoring) for Finite Mathematics for $35 an hour. I provide more comprehensive homeschool instruction, including assigning homework and administering tests and quizzes for $50 an hour.
